Traveling to Zambia? Land Connected.

Zambia is the quieter side of the safari circuit — Victoria Falls without the crowds of its neighbour, walking safaris in South Luangwa, and canoe trips on the Lower Zambezi. With a CGOO eSIM installed before you fly, you land already connected, so airport transfers, lodge bookings and park logistics are sorted from the runway, and your own number stays reachable for calls and texts back home.

Choose the Plan That Fits Your Trip

  • Fixed data or unlimited: pick from the plan grid above by trip length and data use — fixed-data plans for maps, messaging and light browsing, unlimited plans for heavy use and hotspotting.
  • Instant delivery: your QR code and installation link are emailed within minutes of checkout. Install before your flight; validity starts on the day you activate.
  • Good to know: your phone must support eSIM (dial *#06# and look for an EID), and your 15-digit IMEI is required at checkout so your eSIM can be provisioned.

Travel Highlights

  • Victoria Falls (Mosi-oa-Tunya): the Zambian side of the falls, with the Knife-Edge Bridge walk and the falls' spray rainbows in high water.
  • South Luangwa National Park: one of Africa's best walking-safari parks, famous for leopards and large elephant herds.
  • Lower Zambezi National Park: canoe safaris past elephants and hippos, with lodges along the riverbank.
  • Livingstone: the falls town, with the Livingstone Museum, markets, and sunset cruises on the Zambezi.
  • Lake Kariba: a vast man-made lake on the Zimbabwe border, popular for houseboat trips and tiger fishing.

Getting Around

  • Ride-hailing in Lusaka: Yango operates in Lusaka, Ndola and Kitwe, with fares shown in the app and card or mobile-money payment; GO (formerly Ulendo) is another popular Lusaka option with upfront pricing.
  • Airport transfers: from Lusaka's Kenneth Kaunda airport or Livingstone airport, pre-booked hotel transfers are the simplest option; app rides and rank taxis are also available.
  • Minibuses: kombis are the cheapest way around Lusaka and between towns, but they are crowded, leave only when full, and run no timetable — ask the conductor before boarding.
  • Long distances: domestic flights link Lusaka with Livingstone and the Mfuwe area for South Luangwa; overland trips are long and best done with a driver or tour operator.

Safety and Practical Tips

Lusaka and Livingstone are manageable with normal city precautions: do not walk alone at night, keep valuables out of sight, use hotel safes, and use app-booked or hotel-called taxis after dark rather than street hails.

On safari, follow your guide's instructions exactly — stay in the vehicle unless told otherwise, keep a safe distance from elephants and hippos, and never swim in rivers where hippos or crocodiles live. Carry malaria prophylaxis as advised by your doctor, and drink bottled or treated water outside major hotels.

Entry and Visa

Entry rules depend on your passport. Many nationalities can get a visa on arrival or an e-visa before travel, and the KAZA Univisa (about $50, valid 30 days) covers multiple entries between Zambia and Zimbabwe plus day trips to Botswana — a good option if you plan to see the falls from both sides. Keep your passport valid for at least six months, and carry a yellow fever certificate if you arrive from an endemic zone.

Weather and Climate

  • Dry season (May to October): the best safari season — warm days, cool nights, and animals gathering at waterholes; pack a warm layer for early-morning game drives.
  • Wet season (November to April): lush and green, with afternoon thunderstorms; some dirt roads and remote camps become hard to reach.
  • The falls: water is highest after the rains and lowest late in the dry season, when more rock is exposed and the spray eases.
  • Temperatures: Lusaka days are broadly in the mid-20s °C for much of the year, hotter in the lowlands and cooler on the plateau at night.

Money and Payments

  • Currency: the Zambian kwacha (ZMW); US dollars are also widely accepted for tours, lodges and visa fees.
  • Cards: accepted at larger hotels, lodges and supermarkets in Lusaka and Livingstone, but carry kwacha cash for markets, kombis and rural areas.
  • Mobile money: MTN and Airtel mobile money are everywhere and widely used for small payments.
  • Wise: a Wise card works wherever Visa or Mastercard is accepted; do not rely on cards outside the main towns.
