Traveling to Togo? Land Connected.

Togo is West Africa in miniature — Lomé's beaches and markets, Lake Togo's fishing villages, and the mud-tower villages of Koutammakou in the north. Install your CGOO eSIM before you fly and you land connected at Lomé-Tokoin Airport, ready for maps, mobile money and ride-hailing without hunting for a SIM shop.

Choose the Plan That Fits Your Trip

  • Fixed data or unlimited: pick from the plan grid above by trip length and data use — fixed-data plans for maps, messaging and light browsing, unlimited plans for heavy use and hotspotting.
  • Instant delivery: your QR code and installation link are emailed within minutes of checkout. Install before your flight; validity starts on the day you activate.
  • Good to know: your phone must support eSIM (dial *#06# and look for an EID), and your 15-digit IMEI is required at checkout so your eSIM can be provisioned.

Travel Highlights

  • Lomé: the beachfront, the Grand Marché and the fetish market, plus the colonial-era waterfront.
  • Lake Togo and Togoville: fishing villages and pirogue rides on the lagoon east of the capital.
  • Koutammakou: the UNESCO-listed land of the Batammariba, with its distinctive mud tower-houses (takienta) in the far north.
  • Kpalimé: waterfalls, coffee and cocoa farms, and forest walks in the green Plateaux region.
  • Fazao-Malfakassa National Park: Togo's largest park, with elephants and savanna in the centre of the country.

Getting Around

  • Airport to the city: Lomé-Tokoin Airport is close to the city centre; use an app ride or a hotel car rather than an unmarked street taxi on arrival.
  • Ride-hailing: Gozem, launched in Lomé in 2018, books moto-taxis and cars with fares set in the app and payment by cash, card or mobile money; Yango is also used in Lomé.
  • Shared taxis: bush taxis (often older sedans or minibuses) wait until full before departing from a gare routière; private taxis are hired for door-to-door trips.
  • Fares: taxis are not metered — agree the fare in CFA francs before the car moves, and look for the yellow licence plate and red TAXI roof sign.

Safety and Practical Tips

In Lomé, keep valuables out of sight and avoid walking alone after dark; at night or travelling solo, book via Gozem or Yango rather than hailing street taxis, and share your live trip status with a contact.

Between towns, bush taxis are slow and crowded — allow extra time. Malaria is present — take prophylaxis advice before you travel and use repellent.

Entry and Visa

Entry rules depend on your passport. Most visitors who need a visa apply for an eVisa online before travel — Togo no longer issues visas on arrival — and all visitors, including the visa-exempt, must complete an online immigration declaration before arrival. African Union passport holders are visa-free. Check the current route for your nationality before you travel.

Weather and Climate

  • South (Lomé and the coast): warm and humid year-round, roughly 27–30°C, with two rainy seasons in the south.
  • Dry season: the harmattan wind from roughly December to February brings dry, dusty air from the Sahara.
  • North: hotter and drier than the coast, with a single rainy season roughly May to October.
  • Best time: the cooler, drier months are the most comfortable for travel, especially in the north.

Money and Payments

  • Currency: the West African CFA franc (XOF). Cash is king outside hotels — markets, bush taxis and small towns run on CFA francs.
  • Mobile money: Togocom TMoney and Moov Flooz are widely used for everyday payments.
  • Wise: a Wise card works wherever Visa or Mastercard is accepted; it does not offer a CFA franc balance claim here.
  • ATMs: use machines in Lomé's banks and malls; carry cash before heading north.
